'Socker Punch' is a comedy about a young man who hunts the office cookie thief. This was a short film my classmates and I did for the 48Hours Rialto Channel project. We submitted it on time and were honoured to have it screened at the Penthouse Cinema, Brooklyn. I'm so happy I got the chance to direct and edit the film.
A young city man falls in love with his neighbour. Will he have the guts to break up with his current girl and ask the new one out? My classmates and I wrote and shot this film as our graduate project for NZFA, Jan class 2014. It was awesome working alongside industry professionals to bring this short film to life. Taking up various roles was a good way to determine which department in the film industry we wanted to work in. In other news, you will not believe how expensive it is to get a full size mannequin in Auckland, NZ.
Will a poor young man's dreams ever come true? This was a short film Ibra$tar and I wrote & Co–produced in Aug 2013. It was great fun working with a bunch of very fun individuals to bring the script to life. The music was from Ibra$tar's album; Riches from Braeside School. A thrilling Drama places you in the home of TED, 29 as he walks into their bedroom and locks the door. Ted has never lost control of anything in his life until now. It's funny how I came to be a part of this film. My friend Mark Kaiyare invited me to watch a short film he had written being shot. I admired Mark Wambui's work as director and requested to help him with post production. Thus, I became Assistant Editor and Sound Designer on the project. I'm so honoured to have been a part of this project. Check out chromatic pictures on here: http://www.chromaticpicturesafrica.com/
This was my first solo short film & the very first time I tried to edit a narrative short film in early 2013. I borrowed a camera from my friend Ibra$tar, called my friends to my bare living room and started shooting. I went for an 8mm, Charlie Chaplin feel and am still very proud with the results.
This was my very first time to pick up a camera, point and direct actors on screen. I got my good friend Jimmy Kimaita to edit. I still cringe every time I watch it but it was a great place to start. Early 2013
Motion Picture has always been one of my favourite mediums of storytelling. These are some of the short films my friends and I have worked on over the years.
